Quitte MUS-03 shows a large golden-yellow quince with two leaves extending to either side. A dark, nearly vertical stem forms the central axis and gives the fruit a balanced, almost heraldic appearance.
Its angular form, irregular skin and small pale marks are rendered precisely. Warm yellow stands out against cool greens and the light ground, while ochre underpainting remains visible at the edges.
The quince portrait was painted in 2025 in egg tempera on a traditional chalk ground over a wooden panel. It is on loan to the Paul-Löbe-Haus in Berlin.
